Beautiful, vintage New Look late 1940s to early 1950s cocktail dress in a steel grey taffeta with prong set rhinestones, pearls and appliqué trim. Tea length, side metal zipper and matching belt. I don’t believe this dress was ever worn. It appears to have been stored un-used. The rhinestones are in perfect condition and there is an ancient straight pin hidden inside the front bodice that was never removed. The metal side zipper is stiff, it may seem hard to move up and down but it does move when gently coaxed. I suspect some wax would loosen it up. It is in excellent condition apart from a few tiny pin holes and one small smudge, all are lost in the drape of the skirt, see last photo.
Shown without a crinoline, but it would look lovely worn with or without.
