Description
Lovely vintage 1930s to early 1940s silk kimono robe in ivory semi-sheer ro silk with a cranberry red and blue floral print. Ro silk is woven by twisting and skipping some threads, creating an open striped effect in the weave, and giving it a chiffon gauze like quality to the fabric. Not lined, it is light weight and perfect for summer weather or warmer climates. Includes a simple satin ribbon sash. It is in excellent condition, there are one or two very tiny scattered spots, see photo.
Please note: This kimono is 100% pure silk. Ro weaving creates a fabric that is more slick on the surface and feels different, more like a chiffon or organza gauze. It does not feel like what you may think of as traditional silk. Since this kimono is older, the silk is a very light, even compared to more recent Ro silk, this one is very thin and light.
